Welcome letter

We wish to welcome each and every participant and extend our gratitude for the support of the 18th World Conference In Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Health Law and for joining us in Porto, Portugal, from 28th to 30th September 2026. The World Conference offers its participants an international platform for fruitful scientific discourse on more than 60 topics and subtopics in the fields of bioethics, medical ethics, health law and related areas such as artificial intelligence, one health, scientific integrity or environmental protection. We are pleased to inform you that the number of units of the International Chair in Bioethics has recently grown and now consists of 250 units located in universities, hospitals, and other institutions on five continents. The Chair currently operates about 3,000 volunteers in its units, and the International Forum of Teachers (IFT) has more than 1,200 educators in more than fifty countries. The Chair operates many departments which you can see on page 5, publishes educational materials for teachers and students, and holds local, national and international seminars and conferences, enjoys fruitful cooperation with the World Medical Association (WMA) and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA).

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION:
Registration for the 18th World Conference on Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Health Law includes: onsite participation in the 3-day conference, entry to all scientific sessions, access to the poster area, the abstract book, and coffee breaks. (work lunches and the social programme require separate registration; see information below).

Conditions for cancelling registrations: Cancellations will be accepted up to 60 days before the event. After this date, no refunds will be issued (only name changes are allowed). For registrations cancelled up to 60 days before the event, refunds will be processed up to 30 days after the event, subject to a deduction for operating costs (banking and taxes).

Social Program Registration

SOCIAL PROGRAM AND WORKING LUNCHES
The congress organisers value the spirit of conviviality and sharing in a more informal environment after the work sessions. Therefore, Working Lunches will be available over the three days, along with a social programme, including the Gala Dinner & Musical Moment. The lunches and Gala Dinner require mandatory registration and payment.
